MEDIA BLASTING
Advanced Powder Coating & Sandblasting can accommodate your media blasting needs with our 36' x 14' x 12' blasting booth.

What is media blasting?

Most commonly referred to as sandblasting, media blasting today uses many materials including glass, garnet and plastic.

Different metals require different media. Sandblasting is used to remove all other powder, paint or rusted surface to give it a raw finish which allows the powder to bond to a clean surface.

Advanced Powder Coating is happy to announce we will soon have a mobile sandblasting truck to meet your needs in the Reno/Sparks area. Please contact us for further information 358-4610

Garnet
A hard, durable, low-dusting natural mineral abrasive which is capable of achieving high coverage rates. Coarser grades may be recycled a number of times. Typical applications include blasting of stainless steel and special alloys. Using garnet is very popular with our clients and we excel in its use.

Glass Bead
Modern metalworking demands efficiency, quality, and reproducible results. Impact technology using Potters' glass bead media that delivers cost effective, precise control for peening, cleaning, finishing, and deburring processes. Glass bead can be used in a variety of industries, including aerospace, automotive, food service, and electronics.

Plastic
Plastic abrasives deliver a high stripping rate and consistent performance, which is ideal for paint stripping, mold cleaning, deflashing and deburring. Since the plastic abrasive is harder than the coatings to be removed, yet softer than the substrate, coatings can actually be stripped three or four times without damage to the surface.

Aluminum Oxide
As an angular, durable blasting abrasive, aluminum oxide can be recycled many times. Harder than other commonly used blasting materials, aluminum oxide grit powder penetrates and cuts even the hardest metals and sintered carbide. The fast-cutting action minimizes damage to thin materials by eliminating surface stresses caused by heavier, slower cutting media. Aluminum oxide grit media has a wide variety of applications, from cleaning engine heads, valves, pistons and turbine blades in the aircraft industry to lettering in monument and marker inscriptions. Media is a good choice for an abrasive sand blasting and polishing grain as well as for preparing a surface for painting.
